Model Yachting: Racing Without the Rising Costs

A recent Yachts and Yachting article highlights a growing issue in dinghy and keelboat racing — the increasing costs that are pushing many sailors away from the sport. Boats, sails, travel, and maintenance are all becoming harder to justify for those simply wanting to enjoy competitive racing.

The article also points to a solution many of us already know well: radio sailing. Model yachting delivers the tactical challenge, close racing, and strong social scene of full-size sailing, but at a fraction of the cost. It’s no surprise that more sailors, including experienced dinghy and keelboat racers, are discovering (or rediscovering) the appeal of model yachts.
