2026 IOM Worlds Datchet Radio Sailing – Preparing to receive competitors
Datchet Radio Sailing Club in London UK, will be hosting two major championships this year. The first will be the IOM UK nationals over Easter, organised as a test event for the IOM World Championships and then the World’s itself between the 15th and 23rd May.
The UK Nationals will accept internationals entries if there is space so if you want to get experience of the venue, watch out for entry detail via the events page on the MYA Web site
Extensive preparations are underway to make this one of the best world championships for racing. Datchet has an impressive clubhouse with a large lounge/viewing gallery upstairs, which is a great spot for partners or visitors to the championships and makes a great base for socialising after the racing. Those with mobile homes and tents can base themselves on the reservoir grounds. Details of flights, accommodation options and directions are already on the Worlds web site.
Entries will be submitted via your NCA. Details on IOMICA’s web site.
During the event, a clubhouse galley will be in operation to make sure all are fed and watered and later in the day, a bar upstairs in the clubhouse for sharing those what if stories from the days racing.
The event is a spectacle for visitors. 25 or so races will take place each day, weather permitting.
For those that cannot make it, our plan is to have the event broadcast via YouTube but we are looking for more financial support if we are to deliver anywhere near the quality of coverage provided by the Australian’s.
There is so much more to do than race in the region. The area is a haven of tourist spots. London is a short train journey away with all it has to offer (The Shard, Houses of Parliament, Tower of London, the London Eye, cruises on the river Thames. Locally there is Windsor Castle and the extensive surrounding grounds, Legoland and Thorpe park for the younger generation.
Whether you qualify to enter or just want to see the best in the world racing, come along to Datchet next year where you will get a warm welcome and who knows. If you are interested we may have a job for you.
